About Lean In Therapy

Eirin Lewis
MSW, LCSW, C-PD, C-DBT

I received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Central Arkansas in 2008.  I moved to Denver in 2010 to attend the University of Denver and received a Master's of Social Work in 2012. In 2019, I completed an associate's degree at Pima Medical Institute to be an occupational therapy assistant.

I have been a child welfare caseworker specializing in delinquency services (teens who have criminal charges and/or significant behavioral issues), conducted assessments for teens being discharged from inpatient settings following suicide thoughts or attempts, and provided one-on-one therapy to teens and adults.

I primarily specialize in borderline personality disorder and also work with other personality disorders, ADHD, and high-achieving anxious young people. Clients often say they want a therapist who will provide realistic, down-to-earth support and engage them in hard discussions which is what people find when they meet with me; I'm the same person in the therapy room as I am outside of it.

I provide empathetic support with a lot of humor; even when things are tough, we must find the space to laugh. I provide cognitive/dialectical behavior therapy which is a concrete way of looking at how thoughts create feelings and how to shift away from unhelpful thoughts. Therapy isn't to make people feel better, it's to make people feel and learn to deal.

Whatever is going on, together, we will find the path through it. It won't always be fun and sometimes you might wonder why you agreed to go to therapy, but by finding a willingness to experience uncomfortable feelings, you'll find what it takes to enjoy your life.

I am licensed to practice psychotherapy in Colorado and Florida (telehealth only). To find license information for Colorado click here or Florida click here.

Padfoot

Padfoot is my co-therapist.  She is a Dachshund/Chihuahua mix.  She is a great door greeter and will happily sit by your side to make the tough conversations a little easier to handle.
